THE CHURCHILL OLYMPIC ENVIRONMENTAL CHALLENGE |
Starting on February 12th, our school will be taking on the Olympic Environmental Challenge and working will all students to change the way that we get to school. We want to get students to use public transit, to walk and to bike rather than using cars for their commute. And we need parents help. Could you encourage your child to change the way they travel to school during the Olympics and help to save the planet?
During the Olympics, each student will have to tell us what changes they have made to their transport to and from school. Points will be awarded to students for deciding to take transit instead of the car, walking instead of using transit, or biking to school. The grade that gets the most points during the 2 weeks of the Olympic will win prizes.
There will be lots of events at school to encourage students to be GREEN. But we need your help to encourage your children to think and act GREEN too as they get up in the morning and prepare to come to school.
Thank you for your support from the School Staff and the PAC Executive”

Winter Notice - A Note to Parents |
|
Please be advised that as we approach the Winter season, there may be several snow warnings issued by Environment Canada for the Lower Mainland. It is important that our school community is aware of the potential for a repeat of last year's problems encountered on snow days. These included delays in students and staff being able to access the side roads that surround our school. Therefore we would request that our school community begin to make alternative plans to come to school. Public transit and walking are two excellent and safe ways for students, staff to get to school. This will require leaving earlier and changing your route that you get to school, but it will reduce the number of cars that try to access our side roads in our surrounding neighborhood. It is these side roads that were not plowed last year and caused the majority of our problems. Thank-you for careful consideration of this request.
